Use a brush to remove it instead of using a vacuum cleaner, unless you have a super powerful vacuum cleaner. This process should be completed every week to keep dirt and dust from settling in and making your carpet look dingy. You should spray the spot or area that needs to be cleaned, and use a soft cloth to blot and rub at the same time. Do not do this test on the stain itself.
Let the mixture sit for at least three hours to allow it to soak up and absorb the dirt and odors. Using a clean cloth, scrub the carpet with the solution, and blot the surface using a dry towel to soak up as much water as possible.
